COMPOSITE PHOTOSEMICONDUCTOR ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To obtain a composite element of a light emitting diode (LED) and a monitor photodiode (PD) having excellent heat sink and a large monitoring efficiency by opposing the external light output producing units of the LED and the PD. CONSTITUTION:A LED 1-1 has an inner narrow shape, and a PD 1-2 has a PIN structure. An external light producing region 1-3 is formed in opposite direction to the PD 1-2 and a common electrode 1-5 of the LED and the PD for the active layer 1-4 of the LED. A heat sink is provided at the PD side. The active layer approaches the heat sink to alleviate a thermal problem. The PD is formed inside in the amount corresponding to the PD disposed at a substrate 1-6 side, the PD approaches the light emitting unit to improve the monitoring efficiency.
