A modular signalling element (1) for a crash barrier (2), intended to be placed at intervals on the barrier (2) in order to mark out a road with the aid of reflecting surfaces (5, 6) and to indicate the course of the road to motorists. According to the invention, the modular element (1) has reflecting means for representing a curve in the form of a reflecting strip which is continuous in appearance and for representing a straight line in a discontinuous form. The reflecting means are arranged over a front surface (6) which is parallel to the crash barrier (2) and over two lateral surfaces (5) which are normal to the said barrier (2).
