PURPOSE:To obtain a stabilized electroless plating bath giving a magnetic film having favorable magnetic characteristics by adding diglycolic acid or citraconic acid groups to an aqueous soln. contg. Co and Ni ions, a reducing agent for said ions and a pH adjusting agent. CONSTITUTION:Salts of Co and Ni; such as sulfates, hydrochlorides or acetates are dissolved in a plating bath to feed Co and Ni ions. A hypophosphite is used as a reducing agent, an ammonium salt, a salt of an org. acid or the like as a pH buffer, and ammonia or the like for a pH rise or sulfuric acid or the like for a pH drop as a pH adjusting agent. Diglycolic acid groups are fed as a complexing agent for said metallic ions by adding diglycolic acid or a soluble salt thereof. Citraconic acid groups may be fed in place of the diglycolic acid groups by adding citraconic acid or a soluble salt thereof. When the resulting plating bath is used, a magnetic recording medium having favorable magnetic characteristics can be stably manufactured. |
