PURPOSE:To detect the remainder of a developer easily by detecting the change of the resistance of the developer to a spring attached to an agitating machine provided in a developing tank to detect the quantity of the developer. CONSTITUTION:An agitating member 12 turned around a supporting shaft 13 is provided in a developing tank 3. The agitating member 12 has a rod 14 which is parallel with the supporting shaft 13 and is joined with the supporting shaft 13 into one body, and a spirally coiled spring 15 is inserted loosely to the rod 14. When the development advances and the quantity of a developer 2 becomes smaller than a certain value, the rotative velocity of the agitating member 12 is raised, and a shake lever attached to a part of the supporting shaft 13 projecting to the outside of the tank 3 is placed in the advance position to close a contact omitted in the figure, and a supply part in the bottom part of a hopper is opened to supply a fresh developer from the hopper. Thus, the quantity of the developer is always kept larger than a minimum required quantity. |
