PURPOSE:To prepare a magnetic carrier strong against mechanical impact and superior in durability and humidity resistance by coating the surface of each magnetic particle with an acrylic resin obtained by copolymerizing a monomer having an ether group. CONSTITUTION:The air delivered from a blower 1 blows up ferrite particles 3 placed in a chamber 2. A coating fluid 5 in a tank 4 is sent with a pump 6 to a nozzle 7, and sprayed into the chamber 2 together with the compressed air 8. The sprayed fluid 5 is attached to the surface of each particle 3 and dried. A uniform coating layer is formed on the surface of each particle 3 by repeating these attaching and drying operations. The fluid 5 is prepared by polymerizing 6pts.wt. of glycidyl acrylate with 1pt.wt. of styrene to prepare a styrene acrylic-type copolymer having ether groups, and dissolving it in a solvent mixture of methyl ethyl ketone and toluene. As a result, the obtained magnetic carrier is mechanically strong, and superior in durability and humidity resistance. |
