This invention concerns an apparatus to alleviate and/or prevent flooding of a drainage system of the type which includes a number of sumps (1) in the ground, which can be opened and closed by means of lids, and into each of which at least one branch drain (4) from an individual building runs. The apparatus includes a suction tube (6) and on this is mounted an expandable sealing ring (12) aimed, when required, to seal the space between the suction tube and the inside of the branch drain (4) and thereby prevent the inflow of standing water from the sump into the branch drain at the same time as this water can be evacuated via the suction tube (6), for example to a sludge suction vehicle (5).<IMAGE> |
