Water-sol. monoazo dyes of formula (I) and their salts are new: (where X is 1-6C alkylene; Y is arylene; n = 0 or 1; ring A is opt. substd. by nonionic gps.; E is the residue of a coupling component). The dyes are useful for dyeing polyamide textiles (esp. nylon) in a variety of shades (greenish-yellow to bluish-red) with good wet and light fastness.
