PURPOSE:To make an engine compact in size and lightweight as well as to improve a degree of engine performance, by forming each piston of an in-line, multicylinder reciprocating engine into an oval cylinder type, while making length of the engine short and each diameter of suction and exhaust valves large instead. CONSTITUTION:Each piston of an in-line, multicylinder reciprocating piston engine is formed into an oval cylinder type whereby length L1 of the engine is reducible in case of the same displacement and cylinder numbers. And, since each diameter D1 of suction and exhaust valves is made larger than even before, such an extent of suction and exhaust efficiency as matching the conventional four-valve system in securable with two valves alone in this case. Thus, the promotion of miniaturization and lightweightiness in the engine is attainable and, what is more, engine performance is well improvable. |
