PURPOSE:To record images with excellent ink receptivity, ink color forming property, resolution and water resistance, by producing an ink jet recording material by incorporating a cation-modified polyvinyl alcohol. CONSTITUTION:A coating liquid obtained by dissolving or dispersing a cation- modified polyvinyl alcohol or a mixture thereof with another polymer in an appropriate solvent is applied to a base by a roll coating method or the like, and is dried to provide an ink-receiving layer, thereby obtaining the ink jet recording material. The base may be a transparent or opaque one, e.g., a film, a glass sheet, a paper or a cloth. The cation-modified polyvinyl alcohol is a polyvinyl alcohol having a cationic group such as primary - tertiary amino groups and a quaternary ammonium salt group in a main chain or a side chain thereof. |
