PURPOSE:To provide a latent heat type thermal energy storage material compsn. which utilizes supercooling and can be repeatedly used, by incorporating a salt- resisting carboxymethylcellulose in a specified salt hydrate. CONSTITUTION:At least 90wt% salt hydrate (A) (e.g. calcium chloride hexahydrate) which can be supercooled and releases latent heat in the transition from a high-temp. phase to a low-temp. phase, 1.2-5wt% salt-resisting carboxymethylcellulose (B) (e.g. salt-resisting Cellucol, a product of Adachi Korgo K.K.) and 1-5wt% polyhydric alcohol (C) having a m.p. of 80 deg.C or below (e.g. propylene glycol) are blended together to obtain a thermal energy storage material compsn. In the compsn., latent heat accumulated by heating is retained in a supercooling state. A stimulus is given to the compsn. by means of a metal rod having a sharp tip at the time of its use, whereby the compsn. is crystallized in a state of a liquid phase to thereby allow latent heat to be released. |
