PURPOSE:To reduce an increase in transmission loss due to secondary coating, by applying a primary containing of a photo-setting resin composition containing a lubricant liquid to the surface of a spun optical fiber, setting the resultant coat, and heat-treating the coat before or after the secondary coating. CONSTITUTION:A curable resin composition containing an ultraviolet curing resin composition or electron radiation curing resin composition, e.g. urethane acrylate resin or epoxy acrylate resin, containing a liquid composition having lubricity, e.g. silicone resin, is applied to the surface of a spun optical fiber obtained by spinning a glass base material for optical transmission under heating, and the resultant coat is then cured to form a primary coating. A secondary coating consisting of a thermoplastic resin, e.g. polyamide or polyester resin, is then applied onto the resultant coating, and the optical fiber is heat-treated before or after the secondary coating to afford the aimed fiber for optical transmission. |
