PURPOSE:To enable carbonic gas laser beams of large output in the form of clear circularly polarized light to be obtained by a method wherein a folded reflection mirror and a 1/4 wavelength conversion mirror are provided inside the resonator and immediately after laser emission, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The resonator of the titled device is composed of an end mirror 1 and an output mirror 2 and is provided with the folded reflection mirror 9 so that its angle of incidence and angle of reflection may be at 30-60 deg., e.g. 45 deg.. Further, the 1/4 wavelengthn conversion mirror 10 set at an angle of incidence of 45 deg. is provided immediately after the output mirror 2. A laser beam 6 of linear polarized light emitted out of the resonator is subjected to the rotation of the polarizing plane by the mirror 10, and is then converted into a laser beam 8 of circularly polarized light. This manner enables carbonic gas laser beams of circularly polarized light to be simply obtained. Since its functions are brought together in the neighborhood of the output mirror 2, all the functions are enabled to be utilized. |
