PURPOSE:To prevent leader lines from being orssed from MR elements and to reduce the number of current sources by cascading N-number of MR elements of N-number of tracks and amplifying differentialy signals of terminals connected to both ends of the MR element of each track to detect the signal of the track. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes in both ends of MR elements 30-1-30-N of indivudual tracks of an equivalent circuit 30 of a multitrack thin film head are cascaded to electrodes of MR elements of adjacent tracks. The signal of the first track is detected by a differential amplifier 34-1 which amplifies differentially signals from terminals 31-1 and 31-2, and signals of MR elements 30-2-30-N of the second - the N-th tracks are detected by differential amplifiers 34-2-34-N. By this connection, the sense current of MR elements is flowed from a power supply terminal 32 to the ground through cascaded MR elements 30-1-30-N by a current source 33. Output signals of MR elements 30-1-30-N are amplified by differential amplifiers 34-1-34-N, to which signals of both ends of MR elements are inputted, to detect signals of individual tracks. |
