Multi-purpose safety binding for "downhill" and "cross-country" skiing. The invention relates to downhill bindings with a triggerable safety device which can be converted into a cross-country binding simply by moving the control lever 1. Through the action of the lever 1, the stop 2 is retracted from the toe of the boot in order to allow the branches 3 to clamp the front of the sole which contains the corresponding forms of the pivot permitting the raising of the heel of the boot.
