Mounted on the frame 1 of the seed drill are a cylinder 2 carrying the film roll 10 (film carrier) and a weighted cylinder 3 substantially at tangent to a lower generatrix of the roll 10; the weighted cylinder 3 carries a pivotable arm 4 at each end of its axle, and a saw blade is arranged in an articulated manner on and between the second ends of the arms 4; a jack 7 articulated at a point 6 approximately in the middle of the saw is carried by the frame 1, in such a way as to move the saw 5 away from the film 10 or lay it against the film for cutting; a helical spring 8 is provided round the jack to prevent the effect of obstacles on the uniformity of cutting; finally, pneumatic means 11-12 act during the cutting in order to lay the hanging film against the periphery of the weighted cylinder 3. The device thus prevents the film from floating at the end of a row and makes it easier to put it in place for the next row. <IMAGE>
