The building system comprises construction elements and coupling elements which may or may not be identical in shape and may be expandable, e.g. inflatable. The construction elements each have at least one looped portion and the coupling elements each have at least two expandable loops at their ends or e.g. screws tightened to produce expansion at these ends. - The coupling elements are inserted through the loop or loops of one or more construction elements and expanded to form a firm connection. A wide variety of possible designs is illustrated. An inflatable element consists of two loops connected by a 10 cm diameter cylindrical portion. Similar elements are connectable to produce a floating raft.
