<p>A food mincer, particularly for mincing meat, comprises a housing (3) in which a worm screw (11) is arranged having a drive spindle (15) at one end which extends with clearance through an opening (19) in an end wall (21) of the housing to be coupled to a motor, and a journal (17) at the other end which is rotatable in a perforated disc (37) fixed in the front end of the housing. The spindle 15 carries a cutter 33 adjacent disc 37. To inhibit leakage of blood or other fluid from the food being minced from the housing to the drive spindle and beyond, a sealing ring (23) is provided around the drive spindle. The sealing ring is accommodated with circumferential clearance in the opening (19) in the end wall (21) of the housing so that it can follow any slight lateral displacement of the drive spindle, and it is held in axial compression between the end of the worm screw (11) and the end wall of the housing. The sealing ring comprises an annular body (25) which is fixed to the worm screw (11) and a resilient lip (27) which is in sliding contact with the end wall of the housing. Disc 37 is retained by bearing portion 47 of ring 41 which is screwed onto the housing by threads 45,45A.
