PURPOSE:To enable a driver to make a smooth starting as desired in the case that the braking action is initiated while the automatic transmission is engaged in the travelling range under the specified condition by releasing the braking action automatically at the desired rate in response to the extent the acceleration pedal is pressed. CONSTITUTION:After signals have been inputted into a brake control unit C from a range detecting element S1, a detecting element S2 for the number of revolution, a speed detecting element S3, and from a detector S4 for the opening of the acceleration pedal, for the use of a travelling shift of an automatic transmission, the specified number of revolution of the engine, a ''zero'' speed, and less than the specified opening of the acceleration pedal respectively. The brake control C opens an electro-magnetic valve 5 and subsequently opens another electro-magnetic valve 7. This allows an actuator to operate in closing the control valve of a booster 1. Simultaneously, atomospheric pressure is admitted through valves 6 and 7 into a variable pressure chamber P2 enabling a braking action to be actuated. When the acceleration pedal is fully pressed, the unit C opens the electro-magnetic valve 6 applying negative pressure to the variable pressure chamber P2 through an orifice 32a to release the braking action for making a smooth starting.
