The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for driving fast liquid-crystal valves with a low supply voltage. The object of the invention consists in providing an arrangement for driving displays with liquid crystals whose electrooptical properties are a function of frequency, and which enables display to be rapidly switched between two optically distinguishable states in conjunction with a low operating voltage. According to the invention, the object is achieved when the operating voltage is converted into a square wave and shifted, so that the amplitudes are increased.
