A holder for an inside rear view mirror with vertically adjustable mirror glass is disclosed, the mirror casing of which is mounted on one arm so as to be adjustable by means of a ball-and-socket joint. The arm is articulated to a base so as to be pivotable about an axis which is approximately horizontal, the said base being attached in its turn to the body and/or the inside of the windscreen of the vehicle. The arm contains a slot which extends from its end facing the base so that it has two legs which extend at a distance from one another, can be pressed away from one another in a resilient manner and can be attached to an eye fastened to the base in such a way that a positive connection is generated between the arm and the base, the legs of the arm resting in a prestressed manner on outside surfaces of the eye which are situated opposite one another and permitting pivoting of the arm about a horizontal axis, so that the vertical position of the mirror casing can be modified in this manner in accordance with the specific requirements. The articulation between the arm and the base may be supported by a hinge pin which is inserted through openings of the legs and the eye, which are aligned with one another, and can be fastened by means of a nut which is screwed on in a resilient fashion.
