Installations for supplying a network with constant frequency, using an a synchronous generator which is driven with variable frequency have, inter alia, the defects that a network must be present for starting and, in the event of a fault, an adequate short-circuit current cannot be supplied. For this reason, a synchronous generator (6) is driven by the same shaft as the asynchronous generator (3), which synchronous generator (6) impresses a rotating field on the rotor of the asynchronous generator, the frequency of which rotating field corresponds to the difference between the rotation frequency of the asynchronous generator (3) and the network frequency, and the current of which rotating field is used for setting the terminal voltage of the stator winding of the asynchronous generator (3). <IMAGE>
