A multi-purpose tool for the installation of telephone connecting devices is constructed such that a plurality of functions and corresponding utensils are combined in one tool in order economically to carry out the tasks on systems which are operated, for example, in Great Britain. For this purpose, a cable-lug holder or cable-clamp holder for positioning a telephone cable and for mounting on a mounting surface are combined with means for knocking out knock-out areas on connector housings and with a wire installation device, in order to be able to unite a cable core with electrical connectors as are installed, for example, in telephone networks in Great Britain.
