PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration in material and transferability by releasing an intermediate transfer member in press contact with an image forming body and a transfer member from them, when the device is not in use. SOLUTION: The device is constituted as follows; rollers 14A and 14B which stretch an intermediate transfer belt 14 are supported by supporting frames 114A and 114B energized toward the periphery of a photoreceptor drum 10 respectively, while a transfer roller 15 is supported by a supporting frame 115 energized toward the periphery of the intermediate transfer belt 14 and the rotational phases of respective eccentric cams 200 and 300 brought into contact with or separated from the supporting frames 114A and 114B and 115, in accordance with the use or unuse of the device are switched, so that the belt 14 is brought into press-contact with or separated from the photoreceptor drum 10 and the transfer roller 15 respectively.
