PURPOSE:To evaluate the decoloring performance of timer easily in a short time by causing light to strike the timber and measuring the fading degree of the timer. CONSTITUTION:The timber is irradiated with light for a desired time by using a carbon arc lamp and a xenon discharge tube to take a test of light resistance, checking the fading degree. Phenol of a kind in the timber is low in light resistance, so the fading degree of the timber is larger and larger as the content of phenol of a kind is larger and larger when the irradiation time is equal. For the pupose, the amount of phenol of a kind in the timer is estimated by comparing the fading degree of the timber, and the decoloring property of the timer is evaluated. Thus, the decoloring property is evaluated easily in a short time without extracting phenol of a kind from the timber. |
