The invention relates to a heat-insulated composite profile (1) made of light metal for window frames or the like, which consists of two light-metal shells (2, 3) connected by an insulating core (4). To reduce the bimetallic effect which arises as a result of the different thermal expansion of the outer shell (2) and of the inner shell (3), the invention envisages that the outer shell has, for positive connection to the insulating core (4), a number of smooth longitudinal webs (5) which in the longitudinal direction of the web offer only a frictional connection which reduces tension peaks. The outer shell (3) is on the other hand connected to the insulating core (4) via longitudinal webs (6) which, by means of recesses or the like, provide a positive connection in the longitudinal direction of the profile as well. The differently shaped longitudinal webs are produced on the half-finished hollow-chamber profile by a knurling tool acting on one side. <IMAGE>
