A method of oxygenating a crystalloid cardioplegia solution comprising introducing a crystalloid cardioplegia solution into a container to provide a pool of the solution in the container, introducing oxygen gas directly into the pool of the solution in the container through a sparger whereby oxygen gas can flow upwardly through the solution in the container to oxygenate the solution, venting at least some of the oxygen gas from the container and withdrawing oxygenated solution from the container at a location below the sparger to minimize bubbles in the oxygenated solution. |
