PURPOSE:To simplify equipment by using a light emitting diode in common to a light emitting element and a photodetector to halve nearly number of components such as expensive light emitting element, photodetector and optical fiber cable. CONSTITUTION:The light emitting diodes (LED)11, 17 provided to equipments A, B play a role of a light emitting element and a photodetector. That is, the LED is lighted by flowing a forward current to it and a reverse current flows to the LED by applying a prescribed reverse votage and irradiating a light and the current value depends on the irradiated luminous amount. The LED is used as the light emitting element and the photodetector while utilizing the said property and one optical fiber cable 23 has only to be provided between both the equipments A and B. Thus, both the equipments A, B detect a voltage at points (a), (b) and a build-in digital circuit applies signal processing, then two-way optical communication is attained by a single line. |
