The clamp (1) is intended for holding an angling line (4), e.g. whilst taking a fish off the hook. It comprises at least two clamp jaws (2,3) to grip the line and e.g. a loop (6) of cord to hole or secure the clamp, e.g. around the neck of the angler or to his clothing. - The clamp jaws may consists of resilient, e.g. rubber or pads. The jaws may be formed from a strip (7) of compressible material folded double over a given length (L) to form the jaws, possibly with a U-shaped clamp spring (8) around them, with loop fixtures (19) at the end (18) of the strip.
