A strainwire termination for a towed array comprises a cylindrical metal shell (1, Fig. 1) with an internal taper, a reinforced resin material housing (2) with an external taper fitting into the shell taper, the housing having a number of tapering bores (6) spaced around its circumference, each bore locating a conical anchorage member (3) within which the end of an aramid fibre strainwire or rope (8) is secured with an epoxy resin filler material. The bores (6) share a tangent with the external housing taper, (Fig. 2), where access slots (7) are formed to allow the wire to be passed into the bore. <IMAGE> |
