The apparatus makes it possible to reproduce an image from a radar system exploring a given circular sector around the apparatus. A video scanner 10 analyses a film 1 by a centrifugal scan around a point A representing the apparatus and delivers video signals SV transmitted to a decoding circuit 30 which supplies the altitude ZN of the analysed point N and its albedo coefficient BN. A calculating system 40 evaluates the inclination of each point, its reflection coefficient as a function of its inclination and its albedo coefficient, and then works out a luminance signal BNL proportional to the reflection coefficient in order to simulate a radar response. <IMAGE>
