In a continuous heating furnace, particularly in a preheating chamber (A) thereof, forced hot gas flow of an atmosphere gas is caused to take place to heat articles rapidly. The gas flow which takes place transversely to a longitudinal axis of the furnace, retards an axial flow of the atmosphere gas. This retardation is lessened by having the gas flow partially diverted as branch streams towards an intake opening of the furnace by means of novel baffle plate or vane means (4) which are provided in the preheating chamber (A) so as to be outside the path (10) of motion of articles through the chamber (A) and within the hot gas flow paths.
|
