The present invention relates to a trigger mechanism, which may be applied in the construction of small weapons, especially in gas pistols. It provides a possibility for both semi-automatic and automatic mode of operation. It has a simple construction and is reliable during long-term operation. The trigger mechanism consists of a traction lever (5), one end of which being hinged to a trigger (1), and the other end being in contact with the long arm of each of a pair of L-shaped levers (6 and 7). Two restrain bars (9, 10) rest on the short arms of the levers (6, 7), the bars being subjected to spring force and they engage in the cocked position a shoulder formed at the rear end of a striker (14). A fire selector switch (18) located below the traction lever (5) cooperates with a disconnecting pin located above the traction lever (5) and acting on a tapered part thereof.
