A chelate resin having a functional group of the formula: wherein R1 and R2 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, aminoalkyl, phenyl or a substituted group thereof and another functional group of the formula: wherein R3 is amino, alkylamino, polyethylenepolyamino, hydrazo, hydrazino, hydrazono, amidino, guanidino, semicarbazide or a substituted group thereof, has an excellent adsorption capacity for metal ions.
