<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a high performance battery by drying an electrode after formation in an atmosphere of inactive gas, hydrogen gas, or a mixture of inactive gas and hydrogen gas. CONSTITUTION:Of formation process, which is also a preliminary charging process, of a hydrogen absorption alloy electrode, washing process, drying process, winding process in which a negative electrode and a positive electrode are spirally wound with a separator interposed to assemble a unit cell, insertion process of the unit cell into a container, electrolyte pouring process, sealing process, at least drying process is performed in an atmosphere of inactive gas, hydrogen gas, or a mixture of inactive gas and hydrogen gas. By adopting this manufacturing process, desorption of hydrogen, in the subsequent process, from the hydrogen absorption alloy electrode charged in the formation process is decreased. Therefore, a sealed alkaline storage battery utilizing hydrogen absorption alloy negative electrode which is adequately charged is manufactured.</p> |
