NEW MATERIAL:A bisindolinone compound selected from structural isomers of a lower alkylindirubin expressed by formula I (R is CH3 or C2H5), lower alkylindigo (R is CH3, C2H5 or n-C3H7) and lower alkylisoindigotin expressed by formula III (R is same as in formula II). EXAMPLE:N-Ethylindigo. USE:A carcinostatic agent. The compound expressed by formula I has about the same antitumor action as that of the well-known indirubin, but the compounds expressed by formulas II and III exhibit remarkable antitumor action. This novel compound, derived from herbal roots and tree barks, and used as herbal medicines have no acute and chronic toxicity to human bodies and animals, and side effects are not considered. PREPARATION:A mixture of indigo with dimethylformamide is added to a stirred suspension of 60% NaOH in purified dimethylformamide, and the resultant mixture is stirred at room temperature for 2hr. C2H5I is then added thereto and reacted to afford the compound expressed by formula II (R is C2H5). |
