PURPOSE:To manufacture a flux cored wire having excellent quality while preventing the sticking of a flux to a weld zone and preventing a weld defect by adjusting the root length of the seam weld zone of a steel strip in a specific range. CONSTITUTION:The root length l in the butt part at both ends of the steel strip 7 is so set as to attain (1/3)-(2/3)X(t) with respect to the wall thickness (t) of the strip 7 by notching the angle part on the outside circumferential surface side or the angle part on the inside circumferential surface side of the butt part. The reduction in the root length l the decrease in the sectional area S1 of a current passage the decrease in effective current weakening of the magnetic force near the weld zone the decrease in the amt. of the magnetic flux to be stuck are thus made possible.
