PURPOSE:To improve the function to control the crown at the transverse ends of a sheet by providing an actuator to the journal box of a roll so that a taper wedge to be fitted into the tapered hollow part at the roll end face is moved in the axial direction of the roll. CONSTITUTION:The hollow part 2 made into a taper ring shape is drilled to the boby end of the work roll 1 and the cylindrical taper wedge 4 is freely slidably fitted to the shaft part 3. A cylinder 6 is drilled to a journal box 5 and the top end of a piston 7 is connected to a casing 8. A bearing 10 fitted onto the cylindrical part 9 of the wedge 4 is contained in the casting 8. A pressure oil is supplied to the oil chambers 6a, 6b of the cylinder 6 to draw or push the wedge 4 from or into the part 2. The satisfactory control of the shape at the transverse ends of a rolling material is thus made possible. |
