The process of marking prices, using technology within retail automation and which eases the work of marking prices of groceries and other goods in a convenience store.The process consists of optically reading a particular item's item number with a light pen from a bar code (of, for example, the EAN type) on the item whereupon the price is automatically extracted from a price database and printed on the required number of price tickets, which are automatically fed out, torn off and manually stuck onto the items.This is carried out by a price marker, whose components include a light pen, price database, printer, ticket roll, automatic ticket feeder and keyboard. For those items without bar codes, but with, for example PLU numbers or other item numbers, the keyboard is used to key in the number, so that the price can be extracted from the price database, printed on the ticket etc. as above. |
