<p>The regulating device has an inlet connected to the compressor discharge and two discharges connected to the inlets of a pair of compressed air drier vessels contg. a conventional drying medium such as silica gel. The device also has a vent discharging to atmosphere and a regulting connection connected to the air compressor air pressure feedback line. The feedback line is of the type that, at a preset pressure in the intermediate compressed air receiver receives the full air pressure of the receiver and uses this pressure to unload the compressor. The line becomes vented to atmosphere when the pressure in the air receiver drops to the cut-in pressure. Consequently, every time the compressor unloads an air pressure impulse is applied to the connection, this impulse being used to operate a valve which alternatively switches the two discharges from the compressor discharge to atmospheric vent. The downstream side of the two air drying vessels is equipped with a non-return selector valve so that the on-line vessel delivers high presure air to the receiver and a pressure reducing bridging device seo that a part of the air flow is fed back through the dryer to be regenerated and vented via the regulating device. The device enables two air drying vessels to be alternatively switched to on-line or to regeneration without the use of expensive electrical switching gear.</p> |
