<p>The compsn. comprises (by wt.) 8-31% N-acyl sarcosinate salt (I); 0.1-5% polyvinylpyrrolidone of ave. mol. wt. 4,000-90,000; 0.1-6% water soluble protein in hydrolysate and the balance water. In (I), the anionis Na, K, NH4 or triethanolamine and 'acyl' is lauroyl, myristoyl or stearoyl. The compsn. is pref. adjusted to pH 4.6-8.3 and may additionally contain 0.1-6 wt. % salicylic or lactic acid as keratolytic agent. Used for cleaning oily skin, e.g of persons with acne. The compsn. has superior cleaning properties without the irritating and excessive-drying actions of soaps and conventional detergents. Oils and 'super-fatting' additives are not required, and the compsns. are compatible with salicylic acid.</p> |
