PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal color display element with which the registering of both upper and lower substrates can be accurately and easily executed by registering both substrates with the opaque parts formed to the outside of the effective image screen of one substrate as one reference. CONSTITUTION:The substrate 4 formed with the opaque parts 2 so as to extend to the outside of the effective image screen is prepd. and the opaque parts 2 formed on the outside of the effective image screen are used as the reference for registering with the other substrate 5. The parts 2 are formed as finely as possible in order to increase the transmittance over the entire part of color filter parts 1. The wiring parts 6 of the other substrate 5 are seen through the transparent parts 11 where the color filter parts 1 on the outside of the effective image screen are not formed when the one substrate 4 fromed with the parts 1 is superposed on the other substrate 5 in the prescribed position thereof. The substrates are thereupon so registered that the parts 2 of the substrate 4 enters between the wiring parts 6x of the substrate 5. The color filter parts 1R, 1G, 1B are thus positioned to the corresponding picture lements, i.e., display electrodes and both substrates 4, 5 are joined to each other with good accuracy. |
