PURPOSE:To obtain multiple color tones, by detecting marks provided on a thermosensitive recording paper to selectively control the color formation of color forming agents in the direction of feeding paper corresponding to the marks so that fine three primary color forming agents arranged close to one another flatly will be heated separately to form colors. CONSTITUTION:Heat generating bodies are arranged in a line along the length of a thermal head array 1 and mark detecting elements 8-11 are provided at the positions corresponding to marks 12-15. Color forming belt layers B, M, C and Y are provided on a thermal recording paper 2 being fed in directions of three arrows and the marks 12-15 for detection of positions are printed repeatedly for each of the color forming belt layers. Depending on the detection of the marks, the position of each of the color forming layers is found to control the timing of energizing and heating the heat generating bodies and the timing of feeding paper as well as the amount of paper thereby accomplishing the formation of the desired color. |
