摘要 PURPOSE:To compensate the difference between the peripheral speeds of the inner and outer peripheries and to improve the stability of recording, by forming a thin film for optical recording consisting essentially of Te, O, and Au on a disk substrate by giving a monotonous compositional change in the radial direction and changing the transition point so that no reflectance difference can occur between the inner and outer peripheries. CONSTITUTION:When a thin film for optical recording consisting essentially of Te, O, and Au is formed on a disk substrate 1, a fan-shaped hole 6 corresponding to an evaporating source 4 of O and Te and another hole 7 corresponding to another evaporating source 5 of Au are provided and the recording thin film is formed while the substrate 1 is rotated by means of a shaft 2, under conditions where a condition 1<Ai/Ao<10 is satisfied when the vapor from the source 4 uniformly contains O and Te in a compositional ratio range of 0.3<O/Te<1.8 in the axial direction and the vapor from the source 5 contains Au to a quantity Ai at the effective innermost section and another quantity Ao at the effective outermost section or a condition 1<Ci/Co<2 is satisfied when the O/Te is a value Ci at the effective innermost section and another value Co at the effective outermost section. Vapor deposition is made by specially changing the O/Te ratio and Au content so as to satisfy the above-mentioned conditions and the difference in the reflectivity caused by the difference in peripheral speeds of the inner and outer peripheries of the recording in the radial direction is compensated. Thus the recording is made more stable and the C/N difference is eliminated.
