PURPOSE:To perform recording and reproduction of large capacities, by forming a recording medium equipped with a storage element film which reacts with a laser beam in the form of tape and, at the same time, providing an optical head which irradiates a laser beam at the center of the space between rotating shafts of reels, around which the recording medium is wound. CONSTITUTION:A recording medium 10 is constituted in such as way that a storage element film 12 which reacts with a laser beam is formed on a base 11 of film, etc. Reels 14a and 14b fixed to two rotating shafts 13 which are rotated in the same direction by a motor are provided and the medium 10 is wound around the reels 14a and 14b with the base 11 side inward. Pinch rollers 15 which guide the medium 10 to a prescribed position are provided between the reels 14a and 14b and an optical head 16 and detector 17 facing each other with the medium 10 in-between are provided between the rollers 15. Recording of information is performed by irradiating a laser beam from the head 16 upon the element film 12 and reproduction is performed by means of the detector 17 by transmitting a low-output laser beam through a recorded section. Therefore, recording and reproduction of large capacities can be performed. |
