PURPOSE:To produce a novel antibiotic 446-S3-1, effective mainly against streptococci and acid-fast microorganisms, having very low toxicity, and expectable to be useful as a remedy for infectious diseases of humans and animals, etc. and other applications. CONSTITUTION:A new strain Streptomyces griseus 446-S3 (FERM-P No.7416), separated from soil in YAMAGATA Prefecture, and having the ability to produce an antibiotic 446-S3-1 is cultivated under aerobic conditions to collect the aimed antibiotic 446-S3-1 from the resultant culture fluid. |
