An air conditioning unit (1) working with a closed compressor cooling circuit includes a closed housing (2) with vertical walls. The housing's upper section contains a circulation fan (3) acting as a pressure fan for vertical circulation of air from the surroundings. The evaporator (5) of the cooling circuit is situated under the fan in the housing. The circulation air of the fan streams through the evaporator in a downward direction. A passage (21) is designed to direct some of the circulation air past the evaporator (5). The majority of the circulation air is cooled while its moisture is separated in the evaporator and drained off. The cooling circuit condenser (11) is positioned at an opening in the lower section of the housing. The cooled and non-cooled, branched air streams through the condenser horizontally while the circulation air is heated. The cooling circuit compressor and other components are positioned in the lower section of the housing. The unit functions with elevated fan capacity in order to cool increased amounts of air to a relatively low temperature, preferably in the range of 10 to 30 degrees Celsius.The unit is to be used in drying rooms, such as for laundry items, whereby its power consumption is about one third that of a conventional dehumidification system and warm-air venting.<IMAGE> |
