The device for writing and digitising a drawing according to the invention uses a capacitive effect between the point of an electronic pen 5 and a grid of conducting bars comprising two sets of conducting bars X0... Xn, Y0... Yn which are respectively parallel to two rectangular coordinate axes. In order to determine the position x of the pen with respect to the coordinate origin, it comprises means for successively measuring the voltages V0, V1... Vn detected by the said capacitive effect, means for attributing an order number corresponding with the bars to each of these voltages and means for performing an arithmetical mean calculation. The invention applies as much to a transmitting pen 5 and receiving bars device as to a receiving pen and transmitting bars device. <IMAGE>
