The vehicle for transporting, lifting and loading of large containers into aircraft has a rear chassis (6) carried at its forward end on a vertical console (13) on which it can be raised by a jacking cylinder (31), on the rear of the drivers platform unit (1). At the rear the rear chassis (6) has wheels (7) on swinging arms (8), operated by power cylinders (10). The load platform (11) can be lowered to the level of the airport loading bay units, then raised to provide ground clearance during transit. The load platform and the drivers platform can be raised on the base unit supported on support legs to the height of the aircraft loading door.
