<p>NEW MATERIAL:The benzoxazole derivative of formula I (X is Cl or Br; R1 is a group bonded with C wherein the number of H substituent groups is 0 or 1; R2 is H or substituent group). EXAMPLE:2-Phenyl-5-chloro-6-nitrobenzoxazole. USE:Industrial raw material, reducing agent, or an intermediate capable of producing a 2-amino-5-nitrophenol derivative useful as an intermediate, etc. of cyan color-developing coupler for photographic use, in high yield from a raw material available in a mass at a low cost. PREPARATION:The objective compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the compound of formula II with the compound of formula R1COCl in the presence of a strong organic base, and carrying out the dehydrative cyclization of the resultant compound of formula III in the presence of an acid catalyst. The compound of formula IX (R3 is H or CoR1) is obtained in high yield, by the nucleophilic substitution reaction of the compound of formula I followed by the hydrolysis of the resultant compound of formula VIII (Z is group obtained by removing H from the nucleophilic reagent).</p> |
