PURPOSE:To present a reversible electrochemical cell capable of giving any arbitrary shape, by using a conjugated system polymer obtained by desulfonium-salt- treatment of a polymeric sulfonium salt as an electrode active material. CONSTITUTION:A polymeric sulfonium salt is molded, whose structure is expressed by a general formula I (R<1> and R<2> are hydrogen, alkyl group or alkoxy group, R<3> and R<4> are hydrocarbon group with C numbers of 1-20, X is pair ion, and n is greater than 2). Desulfonium-salt-treating this polymeric sulfonium salt under inert atmosphere, a polyphenylenevinylene system polymer having a conjugated system polymer structure of a formula II (m is 2<=m<=n) as its principal constituent unit is obtained. A reversible electrochemical cell is formed by using this polymer compound as an electrode active material and combining this with electrolyte. This conjugated system polymer material is excellent in moldability, and can be made in various forms of film, string, textile and so on, and can be designed freely as the electrode active material. |
